Statement on Ridesharing in California

Sacramento, C.A. – Today, Robert Callahan, the Internet Association’s California Executive Director, issues the following statement on recent legal actions by the San Francisco and Los Angeles district attorneys:

“Ridesharing services like Uber, Lyft, and Sidecar have revolutionized the way we move around our cities, and consumers all over California have benefited as a result. The Governor, California State Legislature, California Public Utilities Commission, and local officials across the state have thoroughly debated the issue and determined that ridesharing is a safe and important part of California’s transportation infrastructure.

“We are confident that today’s developments will be resolved appropriately so that these innovative companies can continue focusing on what they do best: providing Californians with safe and efficient transportation options that consumers everywhere have overwhelmingly embraced.”
