Director, Federal Government Affairs
This Director of Federal Government Affairs role will be primarily responsible for advocacy and outreach with Senate Republicans. The ideal candidate will be politically savvy and have a substantive background in Internet policy. This person will be a team player, a self-starter, action-oriented, and willing to learn new skills and take on a variety of assignments.
Responsibilities:
- Build and manage strategic Republican relationships, primarily in the Senate and Administration
- Help shape positions and priorities together with government affairs and policy colleagues
- Coordinate with IA members to develop and execute effective political strategies to advance policy priorities
- Monitor and influence relevant committee hearings, legislation, and federal proposals
- Communicate developments efficiently and effectively
- Develop written analysis, testimony, and background materials
- Build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with the IA PAC and other political events
- Work collaboratively to ensure alignment of IA’s mission, strategies, and messaging
- Fulfill other duties/projects as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in federal government affairs
- Experience working in Congress or directly and regularly with Congress
- Strong relationships with Senate Republicans
- Knowledge of the federal legislative process
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented, results-oriented, self-initiating, well-organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and independently
- Exhibits excellent judgement
- High energy and a willingness to take on all variety of assignments
- Creative, communicative, collaborative, committed to success
- Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degree is a plus
