IA filed comments to USTR’s 2021 Special 301 Review. The annual Special 301 Report identifies trading partners that do not protect and enforce intellectual property rights or otherwise deny market access to U.S. innovators and creators that rely on the protection of their IP rights. IA’s comments called on USTR to highlight countries that misuse copyright and liability rules to set up regulatory barriers aimed at internet companies and that deny market access to U.S. platforms and small businesses. IA’s comments featured nearly 30 countries and regions that currently have troubling digital market access barriers.
