Ahead of President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Modi’s meetings, IA joined a coalition of technology and business associations in sending a letter to USTR Lighthizer asking the administration to prioritize digital trade and work towards strong digital commitments in any trade-related agreement between the United States and India. The letter cited ongoing concerns with recent policies from India that are harmful to digital trade. A comprehensive, intensive framework to work toward solutions to digital trade issues needs to be an important part of any bilateral agreement.
