Internet Association Expands Team with Addition of USTR Official, Slater Promoted to General Counsel
SLATER: “Ari has demonstrated a remarkable ability to navigate complex trade issues and bring stakeholders together to accomplish common goals.”
Washington, D.C. – Today, the Internet Association announced the addition of Ari Giovenco as Director of Trade and International Policy. Giovenco most recently served as Senior Director for Congressional Affairs in the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). Prior to USTR, Giovenco worked on Capitol Hill for Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-5).
“We are thrilled to have Ari join our team as we continue to engage on important internet issues in the United States and abroad,” said Michael Beckerman, President and CEO of the Internet Association. “Global trade and international regulations profoundly impact the growing internet economy, which currently makes up six percent of U.S. GDP. Additionally, we are pleased to announce the promotion of Abigail Slater as our General Counsel. Gail has been a trusted legal advisor since joining the association, and her promotion to General Counsel is a reflection of her work and our needs as a growing organization.”
Giovenco will report to Slater, who previously served as Vice President for Legal and Regulatory Policy.
“Ari has demonstrated a remarkable ability to navigate complex trade issues and bring stakeholders together to accomplish common goals,” said Slater. “He has done this from the frontlines at USTR, and his experience will be invaluable as we advocate for policies that enable the global internet community to grow and thrive.”
