December Online Jobs Report Shows Tripling Of Full-Time Jobs Postings Online Since Last Year
Washington, DC – Internet Association (IA) today released the December IA Industry Indicators: Jobs (3i Jobs) report, which presents monthly insights on the U.S. job market using data from national and internet-based resources. The report tracks trends in the traditional and freelance job markets and presents unique information on hiring, openings, and online income by combining original IA analysis with data from IA member companies including Thumbtack and Indeed.
“We saw enormous growth in online job postings over the past year,” said IA Chief Economist Dr. Christopher Hooton. “While month over month changes were relatively flat, the nearly 240 percent increase from last November underlines the importance of online job postings for individuals looking for open positions.”
Key findings from the report include:
- Online full-time and part-time postings remained relatively flat in November 2019, but were up significantly year-over-year. Full time postings were up 238 percent year-over-year and down 0.2 percent month-over-month. Part-time postings were up 21 percent year-over-year and 0.5 percent month-over-month.
- Online job searches, applications, and hirings each saw steady growth in November 2019. Job searches were up 2.3 percent, applications were up 1.9 percent, and hirings were up 1.1 percent.
