CHICAGO, IL – Internet Association (IA) today announced the opening of a Midwest regional office in Chicago, Illinois, with Colleen Daley joining the organization as Midwest Executive Director. This expansion represents a significant addition to IA’s 50-state government affairs program and existing offices in California, Washington State, and New York.
The internet sector represents 6 percent of U.S. GDP and employs nearly 3 million Americans, including more than 118,000 internet sector jobs in Illinois alone. Daley’s region also covers Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin, which include an additional 365,000 American internet sector jobs.
“The Midwest is home to a fast growing digital economy, and Internet Association will be vocal in support of policies that help to foster the internet as an important economic driver in the region,” said Michael Beckerman, President and CEO of IA. “Colleen’s diverse experience in the public and private sectors make her an excellent fit to lead our newest office and further the impact of the internet economy on the Midwest’s economic growth.”
Daley joins IA with over 20 years of experience in political strategy, public policy, legislative affairs, media relations, and resource management among large-scale government and nonprofit organizations. Her past work includes leading the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence as Executive Director, Director of Legislative Affairs for Illinois State Treasurer, Campaign Director on a statewide health care campaign, and Chief of Staff for a State Representative.
“I am thrilled to be a part of IA’s newest office and represent internet companies in the Midwest,” said Daley. “I look forward to working with lawmakers and city officials to ensure the region continues to foster innovation and remains a welcoming environment for a robust internet sector.”
Daley will report to Robert Callahan, Vice President for State Government Affairs at IA.
