Internet Association Welcomes Discord As Newest Member

Washington, DC – Internet Association (IA) today welcomed Discord as the association’s newest member. Discord is the premier voice, video, and text communication platform used by more than 100 million people to talk and hang out with their friends and communities.

“We’re excited to welcome Discord to our growing roster of members at a moment when virtual connection has never been more important,” said IA Interim President and CEO Jon Berroya. “We look forward to working with Discord as we continue to advocate for policies that support a safe and enjoyable online experience for all.”

“Discord is emerging as one of the world’s most popular services where friends and communities connect, by text and voice and video. We’re dedicated to promoting policies that benefit our users and the communities they’re building on our platform. Our membership in IA represents an important new stage of our engagement on public policy,” said Clint Smith, Discord’s Chief Legal Officer.

Discord was founded in 2015 to help people stay in touch with their various communities by integrating text, voice, and video communication services. Discord now hosts more than 13.5 million active servers per week, and is used by everyone from local hiking clubs, to art communities, to study groups.
