Statement On New York State Budget Deal

Albany, NY – John Olsen, Internet Association’s Northeast Director, released the following statement on the announcement of a New York State Budget deal that did not include a proposed Internet Fairness Conformity tax:

“The internet industry thanks Governor Cuomo, the New York State Assembly, and especially the New York State Senate for not including this harmful marketplace tax in the final budget deal. This final agreement demonstrates Empire State policymakers’ commitment to making the state a place where internet companies can grow and thrive. With a case pending before the Supreme Court, we agree that now is not the time for legislators to be taking action on online sales tax. With guidance from the highest court in the land, the industry stands ready to work with policymakers on this important issue.”
