Statement on House E&C Data Privacy Discussion Draft

Washington, DC – Today, IA President and CEO K. Dane Snowden released the following statement in response to the House Energy and Commerce Republicans’ discussion draft of the Control Our Data Act

“IA is encouraged by ongoing efforts in Congress to pursue a comprehensive national consumer privacy standard. Moving beyond a patchwork of state and local laws will ensure consumers are protected no matter where they live in the United States. We believe the bill properly prioritizes a primary FTC enforcement approach and gives consumers meaningful controls over their own data. We appreciate the efforts being made on both sides of the aisle and in both chambers on this important issue, and we look forward to being partners in the legislative process.”
