Statement On The Announcement Of Negotiating Objectives For A U.S.-Kenya FTA

Washington, DC —  IA Director, Trade Policy, Jordan Haas issued the following statement on the release by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) of negotiating objectives for a free trade agreement (FTA) with the Republic of Kenya:

“The internet industry commends USTR for prioritizing digital trade in the upcoming negotiations with Kenya. It is important that a Kenya FTA builds on the strong foundation of digital trade policies USTR negotiated in both USMCA and the Japan Digital Agreement. Digital trade represents the largest trade surplus of any American industry and it is crucial the U.S. sets the digital trade rules of the road for the next century through agreements like this one.”
