The internet industry understands the benefits of working together to address diversity in hiring and retention to achieve success.IA companies are committed to working together to adopt evidence-based best practices, eliminate bias in hiring, and create an inclusive working atmosphere. Internet Association’s first annual D&I; Benchmark Report found that the majority (70 percent) of its member companies have an appointed D&I; head with direct reports and dedicated D&I; budgets. Our new findings show that number of companies surveyed with D&I; representation workforce goals rose from 41% in 2019 to 52% in 2020. 

The Rooney Rule

Some IA members follow the Rooney Rule, also referred to as the Parity Pledge, which is a policy that originated in the NFL and requires that at least one diverse candidate be interviewed for every vacant position before making a final selection.

Commitment to Diversify Senior Leadership
