Statement On The Passage Of USMCA In The House Of Representatives

Washington, DC – Internet Association Director, Trade Policy Jordan Haas released the following statement on the passage of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) in the House of Representatives:

“Digital trade benefits small businesses and consumers in every district across the country, and we commend the House for passing this historic agreement with strong bipartisan support. USMCA includes important provisions that will set a new standard for digital trade and commerce including prohibitions on data localization and robust intermediary liability protections. America’s digital sector boasted the largest trade surplus of any sector last year at $178 billion, and USMCA will continue to build on America’s competitive advantage in digital trade. We call on the Senate to quickly pass USMCA and send it to the president’s desk.”
