General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Legal and Policy Affairs
Jeanine Poltronieri is the General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Legal and Policy Affairs for Internet Association. In this position, Jeanine leads all aspects of IA’s amicus brief program, domestic and international regulatory efforts, ethics, and compliance. In addition, she also oversees IA’s policy team and related working groups.
Jeanine brings to IA extensive experience in both government and corporate sectors. Most recently, she served as Assistant Vice President of AT&T. There, she handled a diverse set of issues including privacy and COPPA, as well as federal investigations of and compliance with government requirements. Prior to joining AT&T, she was a member of the government relations team at Motorola and represented their broadband, wireless, and semiconductor businesses before federal agencies.
Jeanine’s government experience includes a number of different roles at the Federal Communications Commission, including as Chief Counsel in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. As the first Chief of the Universal Service Branch, Jeanine led the team which was charged with interpreting and implementing the universal service provisions of the landmark 1996 Telecommunications Act, including, for the first time, internet access for schools, libraries, and rural health care providers. Jeanine started her legal career as an associate at Patton, Boggs (now Squire Patton Boggs) in the Regulatory and Litigation practice groups.
Jeanine is currently a member of the board of the Crittenton Services of the Greater Washington Area, which supports and empowers girls in DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
Jeanine is a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law school and a summa cum laude graduate of Fordham University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She is admitted to practice in New York and the District of Columbia.
